WORSCCA Board Positions:

The Western Ohio Region SCCA is a nonprofit organization that requires the dedication of volunteers to maintain its activities and serve the general WOR SCCA membership. The Executive Board directs the activities of the club, oversees Region finances, interfaces with the SCCA National Office and Great Lakes Division, and is the main touchpoint for membership. To help you have a better understanding of the potential workload, please review the following descriptions of duties for Region Officers.

EXECUTIVE BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identification, care, and cultivation of the Region’s culture
  2. Use savvy business practices to assure long-term viability of the club
  3. Openly and honestly communicate with the Region membership
  4. Review the SCCA Bylaws, Operations Manual, Mission, Vision, and Values statements
  5. Plan for future leadership training and succession

 

Regional Executive

2–20 hours per month (varies significantly based on preference)

  • Chief Executive Officer and Official Spokesperson for the Region
  • Presides at all membership and Executive Board meetings
  • Reports on Region status and supports all membership-driven programs (Solo, Road Racing, RallyCross, etc.)
  • Participate in creation of Region’s annual budget
  • Sign and execute contracts and official documents with the Treasurer
  • Complete annual Regional SCCA Charter Documents
  • Maintain communications with the SCCA Area Director and surrounding Regions
  • Drive creation of 1-year and 5-year plans for membership, finances, and events

Assistant Regional Executive

1–10 hours per month

  • Performs the duties of the Regional Executive in their absence
  • Facilitates Executive Board nominations and elections
  • Organizes and oversees the annual Region banquet
  • Prepares Regional SCCA Charter Documents with the RE
  • Assists in creation and execution of 1-year and 5-year plans

Secretary

1–5 hours per month

  • Keep minutes of meetings of members and Executive Board
  • Act as custodian of all Region records
  • Attend all meetings of Members and Board
  • Work with RE and Board to create and monitor one-year and five-year plans
  • Maintain and distribute the Region’s calendar of events

Treasurer

2–10 hours per month

  • Manage all Region funds, assets, and accounting records
  • Report financial status at Board meetings
  • Pay approved reimbursements and deposit income promptly
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget with the RE and Board
  • Ensure timely tax filings and maintain banking information

Membership Chair

2–15 hours per month (varies significantly based on preference)

  • Promote membership growth and recruit new members at events
  • Retain current members through outreach and engagement
  • Stay current on SCCA membership programs and promotional materials
  • Welcome and include new members at Region events
  • Maintain member and contact lists; prepare annual roster

Activities Chair

2–10 hours per month (varies depending on event schedule)

  • Plan and oversee social and non-competition gatherings throughout the year
  • Coordinate social functions held with membership meetings and events
  • Work with Membership Chair to encourage camaraderie and participation
  • Develop and maintain an annual calendar of social events
  • Manage logistics such as venues, food, and entertainment
  • Publicize activities through Region communication channels

Webmaster

1–2 hours per month

  • Design and maintain the Region’s website and online content
  • Ensure the website remains professional, accessible, and updated
  • Coordinate with Secretary to maintain an accurate event calendar
  • Post event results and important updates promptly

Solo Chair

8–12 hours per event

  • Attend all membership and Executive Board meetings
  • Create event schedule with Solo committee and coordinate with nearby Regions
  • Prepare event budgets and submit sanction requests
  • Oversee and delegate event operations
  • Advertise events and manage year-end points and awards

RallyCross Chair

8–12 hours per event

  • Attend all membership and Executive Board meetings
  • Create schedule and budget with RallyCross committee
  • Seek new event sites and coordinate schedules with OVR
  • Submit event sanctions to SCCA and oversee event operations
  • Advertise events and manage year-end points and awards

Road Racing Chair

20–30 hours per event (typically one event per year or fewer)

  • Attend all membership and Executive Board meetings
  • Coordinate regional Road Racing events and volunteers
  • Recruit and train long-term volunteers for specialty positions
  • Promote the driver’s school and Road Racing program
  • Collaborate with Great Lakes Division and surrounding Regions

Previous Positions

These roles are not currently active within the Region but are retained for historical reference.

Rev Record Editor
Responsible for editing, publishing, and distributing the Region’s official newsletter, Rev Record.

Publicity Chair
Promoted the Club, its activities, and members to SCCA National and the general public.

WOR Games Chair
Organized and oversaw the Region’s annual WOR Games event.
